Park Announces Plans for 2022 Spring Fishing Season

Pecos, NM:  Pecos National Historical Park will offer spring fishing permits for the Pecos River within the park boundaries.  The 2022 spring fishing season will begin March 3rd and end April 11th. Please note that spring fishing hours will be from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  

Pecos National Historical Park uses an online reservation system.  Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance via www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.  A $15 per day fee must be paid online during the online reservation process. Please note that anglers are required to check in and acquire a special use permit at the park visitor center prior to fishing.  For more information related to fishing, visit the park website https://www.nps.gov/peco/planyourvisit/fishing.htm.  

Within the park, three miles of the Pecos River are divided into three sections or “beats.” This approach offers anglers roughly one mile on the Pecos River to fish with up to two other people for the day. Three beats (for up to nine anglers per day) are available on the reservation system.

From I-25 N: Take the Pecos/Glorieta Exit, #299. Left onto overpass, right onto Route 50; proceed on Route 50 for eight miles. At the village of Pecos, take a right at the four-way stop onto Route 63. In two miles, the park will be on your right. From I-25 S: Take the Rowe Exit, #307. Follow signs. From Highway 63, the park will be on your left.

 For the 2018 summer fishing season, Pecos National Historical Park will be switching to an online reservation system.  The new system will be accessible as of May 1st, 2018; reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance via www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.  A $15 per day fee must be paid online during the online reservation process. Park Announces Spring Fishing Program 2018

 Beginning March 8, 2018, Pecos National Historical Park will be offering fishing permits for interested anglers along the Pecos River.  The 2018 spring fishing season will run from March 8 through April 16.

Within the park, three miles of the Pecos River are divided into three sections or “beats.” This approach offers anglers roughly one mile on the Pecos River to fish with up to two other people for the day. Two beats (for up to six anglers per day) are available on a reservation system; one beat (for up to three anglers per day) is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please note, a special permit along with a $25 per day fee is required for each angler.  Only credit card payments will be accepted.

Pecos National Historical Park will begin taking reservations on February 26, 2018.  Call the dedicated phone line at (505) 757-7272. Please leave your name, the number of people that will fish (up to 3 per one-mile beat), the date you would like to fish, and contact information including the name and phone number for each person on the reservation. Remember the park is closed to fishing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Reservations are accepted in the order they are received. You will get a confirmation by phone from the fishing permit ranger within a reasonable time.
